Mary Kate Morrissey

  • Acting a Song

MARY KATE MORRISSEY is a musical theater actor, teacher, collaborator and self proclaimed voice nerd. She is currently standing by for the role of Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway. During the pandemic she had a front row seat to the life changing power of musical theater through the creation of Double Name Witches: a virtual musical theater school that served as home to a 100+ community ages 5-30. Previously she had taught masterclasses at colleges and theater programs across the country but DNW was the first time creating long form curriculum for classes. She currently teaches privately out of her studio in Brooklyn and online.

Acting Credits: Elphaba, National Tour of WICKED. Janis, First National of MEAN GIRLS. Off Broadway: David Byrne’s Joan of Arc: Into the Fire (The Public Theater), International Tour: HAIR as Sheila. Favorite Regional: Elmer Gantry at Signature Theatre, Lizzie the Musical at Portland Center Stage, Little Women at Syracuse Stage, Fun Home at Sundance Lab, and development works at Vineyard Arts, The O’Neill, Theatreworks Palo Alto, and Denver Theater Center. BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University.
