Jack Wetherall

JACK WETHERALL is a distinguished artist in theatre, television and film. He began his professional career as a young actor at the Stratford Festival Theatre of Canada where he rose to be a leading member of the company. SELECT CREDITS:  BROADWAY: The Elephant Man (title role). METROPOLITAN OPERA: La Fille du Regiment (The Notary).  OFF-BROADWAY: The Glass Cage (Malcolm), Mint Theater; originated the role of Mario in Tamara; Henry VI (Warwick), Theatre for a New Audience; Swansong (Will Shakespeare), Lucille Lortel’s White Barn Theatre; Hot Lunch Apostles (Rod), with The Talking Band at La Mama.  STRATFORD, CANADA (under Robin Phillips’ artistic direction): Henry V (title role), As You Like It (Orlando) and The Seagull (Konstantin), the latter two opposite Dame Maggie Smith.  REGIONAL: The Tempest (Prospero), North Carolina Shakespeare Festival; Measure for Measure (Escalus), Shakespeare Theatre of D.C.; Happy Days (Willie), Westport Country Playhouse; The Last Days of Mickey and Jean (Mickey) and debuted the one-man show Tunney/Shakespeare in Six Rounds  (Gene Tunney), Merrimack Repertory Theatre; Willi (title role), Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde (Oscar Wilde), The Retreat from Moscow (Edward), Cincinnati Playhouse; Heartbreak House (Shotover), Goodman Theatre; Cyrano de Bergerac (title role), Guthrie Theatre; Pericles (title role), Hartford Stage; Twelfth Night (Orsino), The Rivals (Jack Absolute), The Old Globe; Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio), Long Wharf Theatre; Macbeth (title role), Love’s Labour’s Lost (Berowne), Alabama Shakespeare Festival; Richard II (title role), Utah Shakespearean Festival; The Greeks (Orestes), Williamstown Theatre Festival; The Cherry Orchard (Lopakhin), American Conservatory Theater; Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Valmont), Pittsburgh Public Theater; Democracy, (Ralph Waldo Emerson) G.C.T.C, Ottawa.  FILM: starring role in Third Man Out. TELEVISION: Queer as Folk (four seasons as Vic).  Awards: Mr. Wetherall won Drama-Logue Awards for his performances in The Bacchae (Dionysis), Odyssey Theatre, and Man and Superman (Jack Tanner), A Noise Within in Los Angeles.  OTHER: He directed Measure for Measure at Centre Theatre, Chicago and The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey; Our Town, Citadel Theatre, Edmonton, Alberta; assistant director Jekyll & Hyde, Broadway. He also steers THE SHAKESPEARE LAB in New York.
