The Art of Acting Studio has been accepted to the LA2050 Grants Challenge, a crowd-sourcing campaign championed by the Goldhirsh Foundation. LA2050 gives participants the opportunity to consider hundreds of projects that will make Los Angeles a better place to live and to vote for their favorite in each of five categories. Ten groups will each be awarded with a $100,000 grant
The Art of Acting Studio is a candidate in the CREATE category which seeks projects that will “make Los Angeles a place where people of all ages are empowered to harness their creativity”. AOA is seeking funding for the Outreach Division, a program that aims to empower severely under-served people through craft.
Outreach currently provides free theater training to incarcerated women and youth in Los Angeles. AOA’s project makes it possible for hundreds of severely under-served Angelenos to have access to free theater programs that will give them an opportunity to express themselves in healthy, creative ways.
The LA 2050 Grants Challenge runs from Tuesday, October 20th through Tuesday, November 3. Concerned citizens anywhere in the world can cast their vote by clicking here.
