Add an actor training workshop to your LA experience at one of the most prestigious acting schools in the nation. The Art of Acting Studio offers offers customized workshops for schools and tour groups visiting Los Angeles. Your group will work with the studio’s world-renowned faculty in a custom class that embraces our core belief that “growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous.

Group workshops can be customized based on your group’s needs. Classes can be designed for any age or skill level. A single class may run from 90 minutes to 3 hours. Multi-class and multi-day packages can also be arranged based on faculty and space availability.

Your group workshop will provide a unique and memorable experience whether you are seeking enrichment training, continuing or non-traditional education or an ensemble-building session.

Acting Technique

Participants will learn the foundation of Stella Adler’s principles of acting through exploring actions, circumstance and justification; to make courageous, expansive onstage choices using their limitless imaginations as their primary resource.

Acting for Film & Television

This class is an “immersion” experience in the techniques necessary to work in feature film as well as in television dramas and comedies. Students will learn to relax in front of a camera and “find themselves” in the roles they are playing; skills necessary for success in feature film and television performance.

Scene Study

Utilizing scenes created in class or scenes prepared in advance, students will explore principles investigating the analysis, rehearsal and performance of scenes focusing on character relationships, given circumstance and objectives drawn from the text.

The Silent (And Not So Silent) Art of Mime

Mime is an ancient art form, the first performing art in fact; it remains our first language. Mime is an essential aspect of contemporary theatre and has in recent times, informed many areas of contemporary performing arts from modern dance to Butoh to hip-hop and freestyle. In this core workshop, students will look into the past in order to understand the present and look into the future.

Voice and Speech

Introducing students to the vocal techniques and exercises of the Stella Adler Studio’s Voice Department, which will establish the connection between passion, thought, and breath; use of language as a means of connecting deeply to the actor.

Stage Combat

Within this workshop, faculty will empower actors to investigate physical action in terms of motivation (preparation), the action, and the reaction in stage combat techniques, utilizing active language & scenes created in the class.
