REFUND/CREDIT AND CANCELLATION POLICY for Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles

PROFESSIONAL CONSERVATORY, SUMMER CONSERVATORY AND INTENSIVES

The Student has the right to cancel the enrollment agreement and obtain a refund of charges paid through attendance on the first day of class, or the seventh (7th) day after enrollment, whichever is later, and obtain a full refund, minus the registration fee, by submitting a written notice to this School no later than the second day of instruction.

Cancellation occurs when the student gives written notice of cancellation to the Director, at the address of the School, shown on this agreement. The Student can also mail, hand deliver, fax or telegram the cancellation. The written notice of cancellation, if sent by mail, is effective when deposited in the mail, properly addressed with prepaid postage. Cancellation notices are to be addressed to: The Art of Acting Studio, 1017 N. Orange Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90038

Withdrawal from Course:
The Student has the right to withdraw from School at any time.  If the Student withdraws from the course of instruction after the cancellation period, the School will remit a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the tuition and other refundable charges if the student has completed up to 60% of training or less of the instruction.  The amount of the refund is determined by deducting the registration fee from the total tuition charge, then dividing the remainder by the number of hours in the course to calculate the hourly charge.  The refund is the amount in excess of what the student owes for total hours of instruction completed, excluding the non-refundable $250 registration fee.

Hypothetical Refund Example:
Students have a right to a full refund of all charges, less the $250 registration fee, if the student cancels the enrollment agreement on the first day of class or on the seventh day after signing this agreement.  The amount retained by the school will not exceed the $250 (two hundred and fifty dollars) registration fee.

If a student withdraws from the program after instruction has begun the student will receive a pro rata refund for the unused portion of the tuition and other refundable charges if the student has completed 60% or less of the instruction.  The date of withdrawal is the date of cancellation and is determined as the date the student notifies the school of the decision to cancel, or the last date of attendance, if the student fails to notify the school.  The student will be charged for all hours attended.  The refund calculation is as follows: the amount owed equals the daily charge for the program (total institutional charge, divided by the number of hours in the program), multiplied by the number of days the student attended, or was scheduled to attend, prior to withdrawing.  For example, if the Student completes 50 hours of a 100-hour course, and paid $2,000 for tuition-in-full, the student would receive a refund of $1,000.<b>All refunds will be issued within 45 days of withdrawal from the course.

$2000        /  100    =    50%       /   50            /     $1000      /   $1,000
Tuition      / Total         Hourly  /  Hours       /    Total Due  / Total Due
Paid By    / Hours     Charge  / Completed / to School    / to Student

The School will refund money collected from a third party on the student’s behalf, such as WIA funds, if the school cancels or discontinues the course in which the student is enrolled, or if the student drops out.  If any portion of the tuition was paid from the proceeds of a third party, the refund will be sent to the lender or agency that guaranteed the funds. Any remaining amount will first be used to repay any student financial aid programs from which the student received benefits, in proportion to the benefits received.  Any remaining amount of money will be paid to the student.

It’s our civic responsibility.

(Updated as of April 7, 2023) In line with the federal government ending the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency on May 11th, 2023, the Art of Acting Studio is no longer requiring COVID-19 vaccinations or proof of COVID-19 vaccinations to be reviewed by the studio, effective immediately. However, for the safety of the greater community the studio continues to strongly support and recommend up-to-date vaccinations, boosters, mask-wearing, proper hygiene and for community members to stay home if they feel sick.

Studio Outlook on COVID-19

The policy that has successfully guided us through the pandemic has prioritized providing the safest possible environment according to CDC guidelines and other best practices while allowing students, faculty, staff and the public to engage in person and, when possible, maskless activity.

  • Though no longer required, the studio continues to recommend all in-person students, faculty and administration be vaccinated against COVID-19 including the booster shots when eligible.
  • While regular testing for COVID-19 is no longer required, the studio enthusiastically encourages the community to test of their volition. Those who have health insurance may qualify for free home test kits through their insurer.
  • We monitor local infection rates on a regular basis and policies are constantly shifting to keep the community safe and artistically robust.

Actions the studio has taken…

• PPE: Masks are available for students/staff if needed.

• Hygiene: Signs throughout the studio spaces promote frequent and proper hand washing. Hand sanitizer stations are offered throughout the space.

• HVAC Ionization Filters: The studio has made a significant upgrade to the HVAC system which includes: larger Merv-13 filters which catch 43% of all airborne particles, Bipolar Ionization Air Cleaners which work to neutralize virus particles in the air, and rebalancing to ensure maximum airflow in each studio.

• Remote Access Learning: All classrooms are equipped with video suites which allow remote learning and in-person learning to continue hand-in-hand in the case of a student’s absence due to COVID.

• Operational Activity: The studio has a contingency policy at the ready in the event of an escalated outbreak. This includes both protocol and equipment to successfully offer and deliver remote classes if needed.

• Communication: The studio’s COVID-19 team meets regularly and as needed to discuss updates and protocols. If any changes need to be made, based on new circumstances or California State mandate changes, we will then send out all changes and updates to the community at large, via email.

Welcoming back audiences…

• Safety Protocol: The health and safety of the community is a top priority. We ask all audience members to review the following safety protocol in advance. Please note: these requirements will be strictly enforced in the interest of the health and safety of all. We reserve the right to deny admission to patrons who are not in compliance with COVID safety protocol.

• Feeling sick: If you are feeling sick, please stay at home. Your thoughtfulness will help to stop the community spread.

• Masks: Though face masks are no longer mandatory, patrons are encouraged to wear masks in the theaters. Masks are available at the front desk, if needed.

• Reserved Audience Members Only: There will be absolutely no walk-up sales or last minute reservations for non-students.

• No Food or Drinks: Please leave food and drinks at home.

• Inside the facility: There are hand sanitizer stations in common areas throughout the facility. The studio has also recently upgraded its HVAC system for maximum air flow. Routine surface cleaning is practiced multiple times per day.
