The Art of Acting Studio seeks a visionary and rigorous Head of Movement to lead and evolve its Movement Department within our professional conservatory rooted in the Stella Adler tradition.

Movement at the Art of Acting Studio is foundational. We train the actor as one tunes a musical instrument — with precision, imagination, discipline, and care. We develop actors who are grounded, expressive, and capable of meeting the demands of any style, period, or theatrical form.

This is a leadership position — artistic, pedagogical, and institutional.

  • Mentor to movement faculty
  • Supervisor of movement integration in productions
  • Director of the Summer Physical Theatre Intensive
  • Collaborator with Artistic Directors and Department Heads
Movement training spans:
  • 2.5 Year Professional Conservatory
  • Workshops & Teen Programs
  • Summer Intensives

  • Use of Self & somatic awareness
  • Strength, technique, and physical discipline
  • Impulse and successional movement
  • Character transformation (outside-in / inside-out)

  • Design and refine multi-year movement curriculum
  • Hire, mentor, and evaluate faculty
  • Lead departmental meetings
